St Marks Academy (Formerly Mitcham Vale School)
Spencer Hurricanes
4-4
Leatherhead Men's 1s
- Dunc
- Chino
- Foxy
- Spencer
The hurricanes turned up to a match that had to be a win Mid week training was fantastic. And fitness on thursday was even better. Partly due to Chino running into Dog Sh**! With a number of bad results in previous weeks, the canes were geared up for a game against Leatherhead.
As usual the Canes started off well, and were playing some brilliant 3 touch hockey. Dunc found the back of the net through a well worked short corner tap in. And Not before long Chino found himself in the D from a good pass from Rich to enable him to slot it in. Brilliant stuff. With the back line showing signs of brilliance, the ball was being spread across the pitch and enabling Grandad and Milky to work there a**s off! Within a couple of more minutes the Cane were 3-0 up through a brilliant bit of play from Rich, who guided the ball through to Foxy. Foxy then cooly slotted the ball to the right of the goal! Having gone 4-0 up the Canes started to show relax.
However this was not a good idea at all. Wtihin a couple of minutes Leatherhead got 2 back to make it 4-2. The sneaky attacker got behind the defence and slotted a decent strike bottom left. Within the dying minutes of the first half, Shaun got sent off, for the 3rd time this season. Enough said!!!
Second half the canes lost there way, and with some rather disruptive and dodgy umpiring, Hurricanes were penalised due to poor decisions. Once the oppo slotted another 2 to make it 4-4, bad habits started to show. Dribbling, holding onto the ball for to long and lack of fitness; all had an effect on our play. With a goal disallowed for Grandads slot in on the short corner, it was at times frustrating to be on the pitch. Even though the short corner was taken, the fact that the whistle went after the goal had gone in didnt make any sense! A disruptive game that was a very very very frustrating to play in.
We mustnt blame others though. We still let our lead slip, and structure fall
Onwards and upwards
Man of the Match: Julian
Dick of the Day: Chino (for running onto the pitch wearing white!)
