Ethos and policies
The Spencer Ethic
We believe Spencer HC has a unique set of values and a culture we want to protect. This has been embodied in the "Spencer Ethic", which the Committee seeks to adhere to in developing the Club.

When playing the game, as a minimum, we expect our members to:
  • Learn and play by the rules of the game
  • Be a good sport - win with modesty, lose with dignity
  • Respect your team-mates, umpires and the opposition
  • Recognise and applaud good play
  • Pay all subscriptions and fees due to the club on time
  • Wear the Spencer colours with pride!

Hockey Development Plan

The Spencer Hockey Club Development strategy for the period 2010 to 2015 supports our vision to become a well run, welcoming, successful, local community club.

Twice in the last 3-years Spencer HC has won the prestigious Watson Bowl for the London League Club of the Year. Spencer has also collected a number of trophies for the various teams who were champions or promoted from their respective leagues.

A vibrant junior section has emerged and we are keen to see better integration with the senior section. Spencer is committed to showcasing the best about English hockey; the men are currently closest to bringing National League hockey to Fieldview for the first time. For more details on the Club’s Development Strategy please contact any member of the Committee.

Our aims for 2010-2015
Improve the number and standard of junior hockey players
  • Recruit, retain and reward volunteers
  • Improve the standard of junior and senior hockey
  • Promote club spirit and support for hockey

Becoming a member at Spencer allows you to do more than just play hockey. We want to encourage you as a member, be it current player, alumni, parent or friend, to get involved in the Club's development.

There are many ways for you to get involved whether it is helping out with socials, coaching or umpiring to taking on committee appointments, which usually change every second year, so members quickly obtain a wide experience of Club activities.  Find out more about volunteering

Club Governance
Spencer Hockey Club is an amateur not-for-profit sports club. The club has a written constitutionand is run by an elected Executive Committee on a voluntary basis on behalf of the members. The club has HMR&C "Community Amateur Sports Club" status, which means that we can reclaim gift aid on donations made to the club.

Full senior members can vote at the club's AGM, which usually takes place in May, and junior members vote through their team representative.

Club Policy Documents
Additionally, we have included some further club policy documents that should be useful.
